Room for Hire

Booking a Room

The Ipswich Unitarian Meeting House trustees and congregation warmly welcome people to use our premises.

We offer our unique and secluded Upper Hall for hire, while our beautiful Meeting House is available for specific use for a donation on application to the Trustees. Please do enquire and we’ll be happy to help. You can download and read the Hire Conditions document here.

Booking Procedure below…

Upper Hall

This is a Grade 2 Listed building looking out upon Tudor-frame buildings and a small grassy courtyard. Access is via an external staircase so the hall is not easily accessible to those with mobility issues/ disabilities, who may find the Meeting House itself both more accessible and comfortable. There is room for up to 20 people seated on plastic chairs (with some cushions), limited kitchen facilities and one toilet. The Upper Hall has previously been used for everything from a boardgaming group to yoga sessions - though please bear in mind the floor is slightly slanted!

Meeting House

This historic building is used for worship. As such all requests to book it will be put to the Trustees for agreement. Please include in your enquiry:
1.) details of the purpose of use
2.) name and contact details of the main organiser
3.) info about who the event is intended to be for and about

Any commercial business planned will need to be presented to the Trustees in writing at least one month before the event.

Although a beautiful building, facilities in the Grade 1 listed Meeting House are limited by insurance and availability. There is access to the ground floor for people with a disability and a toilet with baby change facilities and suitable for use by anyone. The upper gallery is out of bounds to children under 16, the heating is limited (though not a problem in summer) and the pews are not moveable. There is a sound system available and a small vestry for meetings of fewer than 8 people. Chairs (of which there are many) may be set out in the central area. We ask all visitors to respect the peaceful atmosphere.
